Micro robotics controller capacity extended
Control computer caters for larger applications as the maximum application code size is increased from 192K to 512K bytes and is being supplied with 512K RAM as standard. To meet the demand for extra application capacity Micro-Robotics, the Cambridge based manufacturer of custom and off-the-shelf embedded control solutions and components, has introduced an extended version of its popular VM-1 credit-card-sized embedded control computer. Known as the VM-1e, the maximum application code size is increased from 192K to 512K bytes with the new controller being supplied with 512K RAM as standard. Micro-Robotics technical director, Karl Lam, said: 'Because Venom-SC, our proprietary object-oriented, semi-compiled language, is similar to Java in that it has an extremely high code density, only a few of our many customers ever reach the 192K limit.
However, the development of VM-1e is in recognition of the fact that customer expectations of software-powered products are constantly growing and that engineers prefer to design with spare capacity in hand whenever possible.'
