Formula Fabrications (UK) of Norfolk was the first company in the UK to order an 800kN LVD PPEB-EQ press brake with four-axis backgauge to accommodate multiple bend set ups and the latest Lazer Safe guarding from LVD (UK) of Marlow. Director Mark Smith of the nine-man sheet metal subcontractor says: 'The Lazer Safe guarding on the press brake will enable our operators to safely stand much closer to the machine and therefore work easier and faster than you can with traditional light guards.' Formula Fabs' customer base is wide-ranging from producing components for the motor industry to manufacturing water heater and computer cases produced from mild steel and aluminium. batch sizes can vary from as little as one to large runs involving thousands.
Although the company evaluated the market it once again selected LVD.
Says Mark Smith: 'We have been impressed with the good service that we received for our existing punch press and decided to buy again from LVD (UK).
With the PPEB-EQ and its new Lazer Safe guarding, we are expecting much higher productivity and shorter bending cycles with less material wastage, thus reducing our unit cost and increasing our competitive edge.' The PPEB-EQ is the most popular multi-axis CNC press brake in the LVD range.
Being produced as a 'standard' machine it is very competitively priced with the four-axis backgauge for X-R, Z1 and Z2 axes.
The machine includes the latest CADMAN(r) CNC control with remote operating console and CADMAN bending simulation software.
