Seminars preview CAD/CAM developments

Sescoi recently held two UK users seminars to preview the upcoming G3.V19 version of its highly successful WorkNC CAM/CAD software. Held at WorkNC customers' premises - The Hothouse in Stoke-on-Trent and the Aylesbury Training Group CoVE in Aylesbury - the seminars attracted representatives from 30 companies from the local areas. These seminars provided an ideal opportunity for customers to share their experiences with WorkNC, and for Sescoi to optimise the WorkNC development programme ensuring continued high satisfaction with the software.

Delegates to the seminars viewed a presentation and demonstration of WorkNC G3.V19 as well as live 5-axis machining on a Mikron UCP600 machine at the Aylesbury venue.

WorkNC G3 features a third generation single unified graphical interface which brings together geometry, machining, analysis and simulation in one screen.

The large customisable graphics area is bordered by a tree structure and contemporarily styled icons and toolbars.

With the single interface, geometric elements, positions and toolpaths can all be ergonomically selected directly from the screen, allowing the user to gather information quickly and accurately for subsequent tasks and operations.

WorkNC's powerful toolpath editing is greatly enhanced by the flexibility of this interface, allowing easy graphical manipulation of cutterpaths to achieve the exact results demanded by the user.

G3.V19 includes new fluid cutterpath algorithms which will reduce machining times and improve surface finish.

It also has several new toolpaths, including Z-Level Finishing with intelligent lead-ins to avoid marking the part and automatic machining of flat areas in High Torque Re-Roughing.

Collision detection and avoidance has also been enhanced.

Proximity warning alerts the user if the tool or holder moves within a user specified envelope, giving early warning of potentially hazardous machine movements.

Where a collision is detected, the system automatically creates a curve around the affected area, making it possible to create a new safe toolpath to continue the machining process.

Colm Fox, sales manager at Sescoi UK commented, 'We were delighted with the excellent turnout of local WorkNC customers at these seminars, and with their evident high level of satisfaction with the software.

Both Sescoi and its customers are looking forward to the launch of WorkNC G3.V19 in Spring 2007, and the benefits it will bring to their businesses.' * About Sescoi - for nearly 20 years, Sescoi has developed software solutions renown for their quality, reliability, ease of use, and automatic features, as well as for world-class technical support and service.
