Importing of parts and assemblies for design
Theorem Solutions has been invited to partner a major automotive OEM in a project involving the importing of parts and assemblies for design in context. Extending across a worldwide supplier chain, the OEM established a strategic policy for using the lightweight data format JT to ensure compatibility between items from different design sources. In order to ensure that the supply chain was ready within the required timeframe, Theorem was invited to partner in the creation of software, carrying out distribution, ensuring effective implementation and managing commercial administration.
'This is one of the biggest single projects that we have been involved in and especially challenging because of the tight schedule,' explains Theorem general manager Keith Jeacock.
'However, working with both the OEM and the supply chain, we were completely successful in what we were asked to do.
It has been quite an achievement.' The sheer scale of the project also confirms Theorem's market leading position in providing solutions for CAD users who need to create data for the new generation of lightweight data formats.
Increasingly used in visualisation systems such as VisMockup, Product View and SAP, they promise to play a large part in collaborative design projects in the future.
JT makes it possible to view and share product information throughout its lifecycle.
Theorem supplies JT format translators to meet the needs of companies that wish to visualise product data in a single common environment regardless of the CAD system being used.
